Luke Wilcox lives in the North Carolina mountains with his parents, Nita and Bill. Their home is in Vilas, outside of Boone. We represented the Wilcox family concerning a brain injury Luke suffered at birth.

Luke is a happy and playful boy who has cerebral palsy. He loves horses, a passion he developed at a young age through Blazing Saddles, a non-profit agency offering therapeutic riding.

A horse's gait stimulates the pelvis and trunk of a special needs child in a manner that closely resembles a human gait. Children like Luke can receive great benefit to their tone, posture, balance and strength from horseback riding therapy. This therapy, known as hippotherapy, also is used to improve neurological function and sensory processing.

Luke's attorney, Mark Holt, and the Kirby & Holt Foundation have made contributions to Blazing Saddles to establish the Luke Wilcox Scholarship Fund. The fund will help Blazing Saddles provide riding therapy at Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show Grounds for children in need throughout the North Carolina High Country.
