Colleen Yopp, a registered nurse and former hospital risk manager who works as a nurse consultant at Kirby & Holt, recently wrote an article published in the N.C. State Bar Journal describing nurse consultants and what they do for attorneys. Titled, "Nurse Consultants: Why Attorneys Need a Florence Nightengale," the article explained what nurse consultants do, and the wide range of tasks they can perform for attorneys in a variety of settings.
Those tasks included client intake, finding expert witnesses, medical research, medical record review and the presentation of damages regarding those injured.
Colleen, who has a background in both children's rehabilitation and risk management, was previously Clinical Risk Manager at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis. She began her risk management career at Nationwide Children's in Columbus, Ohio, a Top Twenty pediatric hospital. Colleen's nursing background includes work as a pediatric rehabilitation and pediatric home health nurse.
